The Upper Room Theatre (URT) was built on the legacy of J.T. Productions, Inc., a non profit organization established by Joyce Todd over 35 years ago in Kansas City, Kansas, to minister to the public about God's love for us through His son, Jesus Christ. Over 250 men and women from the Kansas City Greater Metropolitan area were a part of more than 15 original plays performed for churches, community organizations and events, Lansing Prison, Fort Leavenworth and at the former Waldo Astoria & Tiffany Attic dinner theaters. JT Youth was formed and grew from 50 to over 200 young people providing them experience in the performing arts to combat all the negative influences they faced. Also, it gave youth a healthier and positive way in which to grow!

The Upper Room Theatre continues to utilize men, women, boys and girls throughout the Houston area and provide them with opportunities to perform original plays that bring messages of hope, faith and love to the public.

Well over 10,000 people have been reached and have enjoyed the production in Kansas, Houston and other states. There have been testimonies of the impact of our productions in the lives of attendees and cast as well. The Upper Room Theatre  has an active 5 member board who works to fulfill its vision and  mission.  The Founder and Artistic Director, Joyce Todd, passion to impact her community and enrich the human soul and spirit through the performing arts has never left, and she continues to touch lives by the power of Christ!
